Press Release

Hungarian Space Centre to be launched soon

REMTECH Space Centre reaches its highest point, production could start next year

  • The construction of the space technology manufacturing centre in Martonvásár, a unique private investment of more than HUF 10 billion in Central and Eastern Europe, is proceeding on schedule. ⁣ ⁣
  • The REMTECH space centre of 4iG Group affiliate REMRED Ltd., will be inaugurated in the second half of 2026 and after testing the production of satellites will begin. ⁣ ⁣
  • 4iG Space and Defence Technologies Plc. is building a complete space industry ecosystem, from satellite manufacturing to data analysis, in which international partnerships have an important role. ⁣ ⁣
  • 4iG Space and Defence Technologies Plc. will be a company with unique capabilities and infrastructure in Central and Eastern Europe, thanks to its infrastructure and the Group’s related IT and telecommunications competences. ⁣ ⁣

4iG Space and Defence Technologies Plc.’s space industry ecosystem is unique in the region and is based on three pillars. The first pillar is the production of space equipment at the REMTECH space centre. The construction of the centre, which will provide high-tech manufacturing capacity, recently made another milestone: the 4,000-square-metre building reached its highest point and is expected to be completed in the second half of 2026. The space centre in Martonvásár will create 85 high value-added jobs and represent the technology of the future, and will be used for the manufacture, assembly, integration and testing of medium-sized satellites up to 400 kg. The plant will be the construction site of the 8 low-Earth orbit (HULEO) satellites of the HUSAT programme. REMTECH will be a world-class innovation centre with a wide range of technological capabilities linked to the RDI activities of the region, and to the world’s leading aerospace companies and space agencies.

„Space industry has huge opportunities, and we do not want to be left behind, we want to be part of the global competition. 4iG Group’s REMTECH space technology manufacturing and innovation centre in Martonvásár is an important step in further development of the Hungarian space industry ecosystem and becoming a major space player in the region. Moreover, Hungary’s satellite manufacturing capability is not only an economic issue, but a security and sovereignty issue too,”said Minister of National Economy Márton Nagy at the topping out ceremony of REMTECH.

„REMTECH is much more than just a new building: it is part of our entire space ecosystem and a high-tech centre that will provide Hungary a distinguished place on the international technology map. Also, it will play a key role in the success of HUSAT, the largest privately funded space programme in the region,” added István Sárhegyi, CEO of 4iG Space and Defence Technologies Plc.

The second key pillar of the space ecosystem is the large-scale HUSAT satellite programme, under which 4iG Space and Defence Technologies Plc. plans to launch, deploy, and operate one geostationary orbiting satellite (HUGEO) and eight (6+2) low earth orbiting satellites (HULEO) by 2032. 4iG Space and Defence Technologies Plc. aims to develop long-term partnerships with major international players in the space industry.

The third key element of the ecosystem is the terrestrial antenna system associated with the HUSAT programme, and the two control and data processing stations. 4iG Space and Defence Technologies Plc. has already signed a contract with the German company CPI Vertex Antennentechnik for the construction of a state-of-the-art ground antenna system for HUSAT satellite communications. The installation will include central antenna systems for the transmitting stations, a total of 8 parabolic antennas ranging from 9 to 11.5 metres in diameter, and the connected radio access devices.

The recently launched international partnerships to explore technology, cooperation, and innovation opportunities are opening up new horizons for the domestic space industry as well as could significantly improve access to ESA, EUSPA, and Horizon sources.
