A New Era of Hungarian-American Innovation Collaboration
Discussions between President-Elect Donald Trump and Prime Minister Viktor Orbán included Hungarian space industry initiatives and opportunities for global technological cooperation.
- President-Elect Donald Trump hosted Prime Minister Viktor Orbán at his Mar-a-Lago estate.
- Among those participating were Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó; Gellért Jászai, Chairman of the 4iG Group; Elon Musk, Founder and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX; and Mike Waltz, incoming National Security Advisor in the Trump administration.
- The official talks encompassed the 4iG Group’s satellite program, potential SpaceX launch services, and broader avenues for commercial and technological partnerships.
On Monday afternoon at Mar-a-Lago, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán engaged in discussions with Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Michael
Waltz. The Hungarian delegation was joined by Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó and Gellért Jászai, Chairman of the 4iG Group.
One of the central topics of the discussion was the introduction of the 4iG Group’s HUSAT satellite program. This initiative
is the first in Central and Eastern Europe to develop satellite-based telecommunications and Earth observation capabilities
driven by private investment. It draws on the greenfield space technology manufacturing complex currently under construction
by 4iG Group and Remred in Martonvásár, Hungary. Starting in 2026, this facility will produce low-Earth orbit satellites weighing
up to 400 kilograms. In addition to reviewing the 4iG satellite program, the parties explored prospects for artificial intelligence
development, as well as opportunities for enhanced Hungarian–American cooperation in commercial and technological fields.
Reflecting on the meeting, Gellért Jászai, Chairman of the 4iG Group, emphasized that the discussions took place in a cordial
and constructive atmosphere and marked an important first step in broadening collaboration. Such efforts, he noted, stand
to foster the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and bolster economic ties across the Atlantic.
About the HUSAT Program:
Under the HUSAT initiative, the 4iG Group plans to deploy and operate one geostationary satellite (HUGEO) and an additional
eight (6+2) low-Earth orbit satellites (HULEO) by 2032. The objective is to position the first two satellites (GEO+LEO) in
orbit by the end of 2028. Beyond launch services, the 4iG Group’s satellite development program will encompass the entire
value chain, from manufacturing low-Earth orbit satellites and operating them in space to processing data for end-users worldwide.
