4iG Group and REMRED to construct a Space Technology Manufacturing Centre in Hungary

PRESS RELEASE

⁣4iG Group and REMRED to construct a Space Technology Manufacturing Centre in Hungary

  • ⁣4iG Group and REMRED Zrt., part of the Group’s technology and space industry holding company, laid the foundation stone of the new Space Technology Manufacturing Centre in Martonvásár.
  • ⁣The 4,000 square metre facility will be used to design, manufacture and test satellites and advanced space systems from 2026.
  • ⁣The facility, called REMTECH, will use the most advanced technology available today and will operate according to the highest international space industry standards.
  • ⁣The investment will create more than 85 new high value-added jobs.
  • ⁣With the implementation of the Space Technology Manufacturing Centre and through the vertical integration of its space industrial portfolio, 4iG Group will become a service provider with unique capabilities and infrastructure in the Central and Eastern European region.

4iG Group and its subsidiary REMRED Zrt. have laid the foundation stone for Hungary’s first space industry manufacturing centre in Martonvásár, Fejér County. The REMTECH factory, which will be capable of manufacturing, assembling, integrating, and testing satellites weighing up to 400 kilograms, will use modular technology, unique in Europe, to manufacture, assemble and test satellites. The greenfield development will be equipped with innovative and state-of-the-art technology solutions in line with aerospace standards and will be powered by an independent solar farm upon handover. The 4,000 square metre manufacturing centre will include a 1,500 square metre specialist laboratory with ISO8 and ISO5 certified clean room technology. The facility will also have house vibration, shock, mechanical, thermo-vacuum, climatic, EMC/EMI and acoustic testing systems.

Designed to meet the needs of both the domestic and international markets, the Space Technology Manufacturing Centre will not only be an outstanding base for satellite technology and the space industry. The unique investment will also create a centre of innovation, involving international cooperation and the domestic knowledge industry, with multiple links to education and R&D activities. The Space Technology Manufacturing Centre will be operational in 2026 and will create 85 new high value-added jobs.

Speaking at the ceremony held in Martonvásár, Minister of National Economy Márton Nagy ⁣ said that Hungary’s ability to manufacture satellites wasn’t just an economic and security issue, but also one of sovereignty. The space sector has a bright future, as it is one of the world’s fastest growing and, according to international surveys, most resilient industries, estimated to grow from USD 630 billion in 2023 to USD 1,800 billion in 2035. In addition, the space industry, which is at the forefront of technological development, has a very high multiplier effect, meaning that the innovations and technological advances it generates can spread to many other sectors of the economy. This is a key issue for the further strengthening of competitiveness. Thanks to its economic ecosystem, its infrastructure and its intellectual capital, Hungary is in a good position to become a major player in the space industry. This is why the investment of the government’s strategic partner 4iG is important, as it will enable the company to become a regional leader in the space industry, in addition to ICT.

⁣“With the joint investment of 4iG Group and REMRED in the Space Technology Manufacturing Centre and the vertical integration of our space and technology portfolio, our Group will have unique capabilities and infrastructure in Central Eastern Europe. As part of our technology and defence industrial holding, space is the area with the greatest growth potential, alongside 4iG Group's traditional businesses – IT and telecommunications", ⁣ emphasised Gellért Jászai, Chairman of 4iG Group ⁣ , in his speech at the ground-breaking ceremony. ⁣“The services and satellite manufacturing capacity of the Space Technology Manufacturing Centre will further strengthen the international presence of 4iG Group and develop new domestic and international partnerships. We can enter a manufacturing market that combines state-of-the-art equipment with the latest knowledge to produce world-class technologies".

In his welcoming speech, ⁣Dr István Sárhegyi, founder of REMRED and CEO of the space industry and technology holding company of the 4iG Group ⁣ , emphasised that thanks to the investment in Martonvásár, Hungary could become a major player in the global space market within a short period of time. The CEO said that already in the planning phase of the space manufacturing centre the largest international companies and manufacturers have offered their cooperation, which proves that there is a huge international demand to produce low earth orbit satellites and various space equipment. ⁣“Our goal in the space industry is to build on our own engineering capabilities to develop new and unique space equipment and satellites, and to become strategic partners of the largest satellite and space companies, as well as national and international space agencies” ⁣ , added Dr István Sárhegyi.

In the 21 st ⁣ century, the space industry, including the data and services provided by satellites, has become part of the critical infrastructure. With the increasing frequency of natural disasters and the geopolitical and economic situation in Europe, technology that provides accurate, data-driven, instant information and communication is of strategic importance. International conflicts in recent decades have also shown how the lack of space capabilities – an adequate infrastructure and knowledge base – can make a country vulnerable. The investment launched in partnership between 4iG Group and REMRED could not only play a key role in the Hungarian and international space industry from 2026 but could also be a strategic element of national sovereignty and security policy through its technological capabilities.
