Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Transport of North Macedonia and Hungarian 4iG Group Chairman Meet in Budapest

Aleksandar Nikoloski and Gellért Jászai Explore Cooperation in 4iG’s interest to enter the Telco market in North Macedonia

During an official visit to Budapest, North Macedonia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Transport, Aleksandar Nikoloski, engaged in productive discussions with the Chairman of 4iG Group. In the meeting held in the Hungarian capital, Gellért Jászai, Chairman of 4iG Group, expressed strong interest in exploring opportunities to enter the North Macedonian telecommunications market to offer mobile and fixed services. As a prominent regional IT and telecommunications company with a proven history of driving digital transformation across various sectors, the initiative aligns perfectly with 4iG Group’s strategy to expand its presence in the Western Balkans.

“We believe that 4iG's established track record in the telecommunications industry, combined with its regional expertise, can be effectively leveraged in the Macedonian market. This proposed initiative promises substantial benefits for both parties and could be particularly advantageous for the citizens of Macedonia, as both the country and 4iG Group share a common vision for a connected and digitally advanced society.” – added Aleksandar Nikoloski, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Transport of North Macedonia.

During the official meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of digital infrastructure development for economic and social progress. Aligning with North Macedonia’s 2030 sustainable development plans, the 4iG Chairman expressed interest in working on communication infrastructure projects, highlighting potential investments in cutting-edge technologies to enhance connectivity across urban and rural areas in North Macedonia. This initiative aims to improve customer experience, promote sustainability, create new job opportunities, and stimulate economic growth.

“We are eager to contribute to the North Macedonian telecommunications sector and drive positive change through technology. To outline our ambition to enter the North Macedonian telecommunications market, in the next few weeks we will start working with the Government to formalize our commitment and detail this relationship further.” – said Gellért Jászai, Chairman of 4iG Group, following the discussion with the Deputy Prime Minister.

4iG Group is Hungary's second-largest telecommunications operator and leading IT system integrator, with a growing investment portfolio in the space and defense industries. In 2022, 4iG expanded into the Western Balkans telecommunications markets, establishing significant positions in Montenegro and Albania and launching its own telco brand; One. Under the ONE brand, 4iG's Western Balkan subsidiaries have undergone substantial transformation. ONE Montenegro leads the market in 5G mobile services, while ONE Albania, formed by consolidating 4iG-owned Albanian telecom companies, has become the top convergent telecommunications provider in the country.

Besides the current investments, 4iG is also planning a high-capacity submarine data cable with Telecom Egypt to link Egypt and Albania. This project might bring additional benefits to North Macedonia by enhancing its digital and economic growth.
